Arenga Forest Palm Sugar is made from the fresh sap collected from the Arenga pinnata sugar palms in Sulawesi and Borneo Indonesia. The project is supported by the Masarang Foundation, which has as its aim to protect endangered forest and rehabilitate degraded forest areas throughout Indonesia.
Fresh sugar palm sap is boiled down into brown syrup. It is then cooled, crystallized and hardened to produce a sugar that is high in potassium, magnesium, iron, and amino acids such as glutamine and arginine, substances that are known to have a very positive effect upon human health. No chemical is added in the production of the palm sugar. Arenga palm sugar is pleasantly delicious with notes of caramel.
